Unlike traditional air-to-air front mount intercoolers (FMIC), your 3.0L twin-turbocharged INFINITI engine relies on a unique method. It uses coolant to cool the intake air charge through an air-to-water heat exchanger. While this setup may work fine for a stock vehicle in ideal conditions, it tends to heat soak quickly, robbing your engine of horsepower. Our testing revealed that the factory INFINITI heat exchanger actually restricts the flow of coolant. This restriction slows down the coolant’s journey through the air-to-water intercooler, which means your intake air doesn’t get adequately cooled.
