In the realm of drag racing, a crucial requirement is the inclusion of a Single Mass SFI-approved Flywheel in kits originally designed with a Dual Mass configuration. This setup showcases a Heavy Duty Pressure Plate that has been specially modified to accommodate a puck-style disc, eliminating any cushioning material between the linings. The result is a clutch pedal travel that is noticeably shorter and quicker. The puck design disc serves multiple purposes. Firstly, it reduces rotational mass and the overall drive surface area. Simultaneously, it increases the pounds per square inch exerted on the friction material’s surface. This combination of effects effectively minimizes inertia, facilitating the rapid transfer of torque from the engine to the wheels. To ensure optimal performance in race applications, the friction material employed in this system is Graphite Impregnated Ceramic. This compound has surpassed all other friction materials in rigorous testing, demonstrating superior durability, reduced chatter, efficient heat transfer, and an impressive torque capacity.
